Continuing the Journey!

On May 21, 2018, I left the AT trail at mile marker 824, or about 120 miles south of the West Virginia/Maryland state line. My goal of thru-hiking the entire 2,190 miles was not achieved, but my commitment to finish did not end there.

On April 2, 2020, I was planning to return to mile marker 824 and set out to hike the remaining miles over about a three month period- excited to once again experience the beauty, fellowship, and spirituality that the trail brought me in 2018.

Unfortunately, as we all are doing are part to face down the coronavirus, I have suspended my start date. In as much as the ATC has officially "closed" the trail and State and National parks and trailheads are closed, it would not only be almost impossible to continue, it would be irresponsible for me to ignore my health, public health, and the interests and health of anybody I would encounter on the trails, in shelters, and in towns.

I will be re calibrating my plans and hope for some miles still this season as well as planning another final section hike next season - 2021.

To my faithful - and patient - Ronald McDonald House donors - Thank you Again!!!  You provided such inspiration and in large measure, your contributions have kept the motivation to finish very much alive for me. We'll get there!

As before, please follow my progress through the web site!!
